HKU Moodle is the central LMS (learning management system) that provides an efficient e-learning platform for the University of Hong Kong. It has integrations with SIS (Student Information system), which supports and facilitates the process of learning and teaching. Moodle provides students access to forums, assignments, and tutorial assignments formulated under SIS. It’s available for every academic course, thus enabling students to access powerful and engaging online learning course content and learning materials.

How To Log Into HKU Moodle? 

As a student, follow the following steps to log in to your HKU Moodle portal. 

  1. Get started with your web browser. 
  2. Navigate and go to https://hkuportal.hku.hk/
  3. To enter your UID and password, a new window will pop up.
  4. Enter the details carefully and click the “Login” button. 
  5. You will see a screen showing the dashboard. 
  6. Move and hit the “Access” button. 
  7. Now, you can access your online Moodle course easily. 

The central Moodle system provides a beautiful interactive and online learning experience to the children. Every course enrolled by a student in a particular semester comes along with its corresponding Moodle course homepage automatically created by the IT services.

As a guest, follow the following steps to log in to your HKU Moodle portal.

  1. Get started with your web browser. 
  2. Navigate and go to https://hkuportal.hku.hk/moodle/guest/
  3. A screen asking you to enter your Guest username followed by a password pops up. 
  4. Enter your Guest’s username and password. 
  5. Hit the “Login” button.
  6. Congratulations! You have successfully logged in to your HKU Moodle Guest account. 

Also, keep in mind that HKU Moodle has a daily downtime. It’s because HKU Moodle goes through daily maintenance at 2:15 am, which lasts for no longer than 2 minutes. You may face problems if you try to log in to your account at this time.

 

How Can You Change Your HKU Moodle Password? 

In HKU Moodle, only guests are allowed to change the passwords of their own guest accounts. Follow these instructions to change your HKU Moodle password:

  1. Log in to your HKU Moodle Guest account. 
  2. Go to the “Settings” block present on the left-hand side of the tab. 
  3. A drop-down menu with many options pops up.
  4. Click on the “Change password” option. 
  5. A screen opens up, asking you to enter your current/existing password and new password. You are also asked to re-enter your new password in order to confirm it. 
  6. Follow the instructions and do as directed. 
  7. After filling in all the details, then click on the “Save Changes” button. 
  8. Congratulations! You have successfully changed the password of your HKU Guest account. 

 

How Can You Update Your Moodle Profile?

After logging into your Moodle for the first time, you should review your profile to ensure that all the information is correct. Here are the steps which will help you update your profile in case of errors and mistakes.

  1. Navigate to the user profile page. 
  2. You can find your profile picture icon on the top right-hand corner of the page. Click on it. Choose “Profile.” 
  3. Click on “Edit Profile.”
  4. Check your information. Make the necessary changes that you want to make. In the “user picture” section, you can also upload your profile picture. 
  5. Hit the “Update profile” button after making the necessary changes, which you can find at the bottom of a page. 
  6. Now, you can easily see the saved changes in your profile. 

 

How Can You View Discussion In HKU Moodle General Forum? 

Follow these steps to view discussions in HKU Moodle General Forum/ Discussion Board: 

  1. Navigate to the user profile page. 
  2. Move to the course homepage. Hit the “Discussion” option.
  3. You will see a list of discussion topics; which are being discussed among your peers. 
  4. Click on your favorite discussion topic.
  5. You can view the discussion content in a box.
  6. You can add your own comments to the discussion topic. Moreover, by clicking on the “Reply” option present on the discussion topic page, you can also reply to a comment. 
  7. After posting a comment, you will receive a confirmation “Your post was successfully added.” Now, if you want to edit your comment/reply, hit the “edit” button. 

How To Verify Your Dual Credit Schedule In HKU Moodle?

To verify your dual credit schedule in HKU Moodle, you can follow the following steps.

  1. Login to HKU Moodle using the following steps. You can see your name on the top left corner of the screen. 
  2. Choose the “My Page” Tab. Using the “My Page” Tab, you can have a quick glance at your college records.
  3. Go to “Web Services.”
  4. Choose “Student & Financial Aid” from the drop-down box that appears.
  5. From the various options, choose “Registration.”
  6. A screen pops up with various options. Click on “Select Term.” 
  7. Now, you can see the exact term during which you were enrolled. In case you don’t see the term in which you were enrolled, click on the drop-down arrow and select a different term. 
  8. After selecting your term, hit the “Submit” button.
  9. Congratulations! Now, you can see your banner ID beside your name on the right-hand side corner.
