DC Connect is the online student portal of Durham College. The College was founded in 1967 and it has over 43,000 students enrolled. The DC Connect online platform is an essential part of the student’s life at Durham college and it is a must if they want to finish their chosen course. This article will guide you on how to use DC Connect and teach you how to log in to the site while answering some of the most frequently asked questions.
What is DC Connect?
DC Connect serves as the student login portal of Durham College. It allows students to easily access their course material such as course outlines, lecture slides, assignments, grades, and other content from their professors. Each class or course will also have a course-specific messaging platform where you can get in touch with your classmates and professor. Basically, DC Connect serves as your online class homeroom.
The Durham College Learning Management System is powered by Desire2Learn software.
How to log into DC Connect?
Here is how you can access your DC Connect;
- Open your favorite browser and navigate to durhamcollege.ca
- Click the “Quick Links” option at the top of the page and choose “DC Connect” from the drop-down menu
- OR you can use this direct link to go straight into the login page. https://durhamcollege.desire2learn.com/
- Type in your Student Number at the login screen
- Enter your network password
- Hit the “Sign in” button
- You will be taken into your LMS dashboard then choose the name of your course found under the heading “My Courses”.
How to access your course on DC Connect?
You can go to the PPL homepage at www.durhamcollege.ca/ppl, click the “Quick Links” option at the top of the page and choose “DC Connect” from the drop-down menu. Or you can also use this direct link https://sts.dc-uoit.ca/.
Then all you have to do is enter your student number and password at the login screen. Then look for your course in the selection under the heading “My Courses”
How to get my Student Number?
Your student number is generated the first time you register for a Durham College course. This number is extremely important as it will be your academic student number permanently so you should keep it well for future reference.
For first time enrollees:
If you have never taken a course at Durham College, you would have to fill in an online Personal Information Form to register. After that, your student number will be generated. Your student number is essential as it will be used in every course registration and college activity.
If you are having any trouble or forgot your student number, you can call the Continuing Education office at 905.721.3052.
Where to get my DC Connect password?
If you have not created a password, your default password is your date of birth (MMDDYY).
If you did not give your birth date, then your default password is your postal code. Remember that they are all capital letters and there are no spaces.
For students who have never accessed any IT network services:
Your username will be your 9-digit student number and your default password will be your birthdate in the format of MMDDYY.
You can also change your password by accessing https://mypassword.dc-uoit.ca/#Change
For students who have accessed IT network services:
Your username is still your 9-digit student number and you should try logging in with your last remembered network password.
If you can’t access your account because it has been disabled but you can still remember your previous password, you can try and change it using this link https://mypassword.dc-uoit.ca/#Change.
On the other hand, if you can’t remember your password, you can attempt and reset it by answering some security questions about yourself. Simply go to https://mypassword.dc-uoit.ca/#Reset.

How to change my password?
There are times that you may have to change your password for a variety of reasons. Security, forgotten passwords, and disabled accounts. Here is how you can change or update your DC Connect password.
- Go to https://sts.dc-uoit.ca/adfs/portal/updatepassword
- Type in the security code to access the page
- Type in your Banner/Student ID
- Enter your old Password
- Enter your new password and type it again to confirm
- Hit Submit
- Make sure that you follow the password rules
The new password cannot be the same as the prior 3 passwords. Strong passwords are at least 8 characters long and use passphrases comprised of a combination of mixed case letters, numbers, and symbols.
